Bookkeeping & Controller Services Serving Businesses $2M–$30M Nationwide & Remote

Sound familiar?

Your business has outgrown its financial setup.

Month-end close takes weeks — and you still don't trust the numbers.

Your bookkeeper gives you reports, but no one is interpreting them for you.

You're making big decisions — hiring, pricing, expansion — on gut instinct alone.

Your accountant only shows up at tax time. The other eleven months? You're on your own.

There's a better way.

What We Do

Bookkeeping, controller services, and financial leadership that actually moves the needle.

From day-to-day bookkeeping to CFO-level strategy — every engagement is tailored to where your business is and where it's headed.

Monthly Close & Financial Reporting

A clean, timely close and financial statements you can actually use — delivered to you, not chased down.

  • Full month-end close process managed start to finish
  • Board-ready P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Variance commentary so you know why the numbers moved

You'll finally know exactly where your business stands — every single month.

Cash Flow Management & Forecasting

See what's coming before it hits. A rolling cash flow model that keeps you ahead of every crunch.

  • 13-week rolling cash flow forecast, updated weekly
  • Scenario modeling for major decisions and seasonal swings
  • Early warning system for shortfalls — weeks, not days, in advance

You'll never be blindsided by a cash crisis again.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

Budgets that drive decisions — not binders that collect dust on a shelf.

  • Annual operating budgets built with your leadership team
  • Monthly budget-vs-actual variance analysis with action items
  • Rolling forecasts that adapt as your business changes

You'll have a financial roadmap that actually gets used.

Accounting Team Oversight

We manage your bookkeepers and accounting staff so you don't have to — and catch errors before they compound.

  • Supervision, training, and quality control for your existing team
  • Process documentation and workflow optimization
  • Hiring support when it's time to grow the finance function

You'll have an accounting team that runs like a well-oiled machine.

Systems Implementation & Cleanup

Your accounting software should work for you. We'll make sure it does — or find one that will.

  • QuickBooks, NetSuite, Xero, and Sage — evaluation, setup, and migration
  • Chart of accounts restructuring and cleanup
  • Integrations, automation, and workflow streamlining

You'll have a financial system that's clean, fast, and built to scale.

CFO-Level Strategic Support

Senior financial thinking for the moments that matter most — without the senior financial salary.

  • Unit economics, margin analysis, and pricing strategy
  • Investor-ready reporting, bank covenant compliance, and lender relations
  • Scenario modeling for acquisitions, expansion, and capital decisions

You'll walk into every big decision with the numbers to back it up.

Full-Charge Bookkeeping

Accurate, up-to-date books — every account reconciled, every transaction where it belongs, every month.

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations — monthly, no exceptions
  • General ledger maintenance and journal entries

You'll have books you can actually trust — not a black box you're afraid to open.

Payroll Processing & Support

Payroll that runs on time, every time — with the compliance details handled so you don't have to think about them.

  • End-to-end payroll processing and direct deposit coordination
  • Payroll tax filings and year-end W-2 / 1099 preparation
  • PTO tracking, benefit deductions, and new hire onboarding support

You'll stop worrying about payroll and start focusing on running your business.

Sales Tax Filing & Compliance

Multi-state nexus, changing rates, filing deadlines — we'll keep you compliant so you stay focused on revenue.

  • Sales tax registration and nexus analysis across all states
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual return preparation and filing
  • Audit support and exemption certificate management

You'll never miss a sales tax deadline — or overpay because your setup was wrong.

Catch-Up & Cleanup Bookkeeping

Behind on your books? We'll dig in, sort it out, and get you back to current — no judgment, just results.

  • Full historical reconstruction of transactions and reconciliations
  • Uncategorized transaction cleanup and reclassification
  • Chart of accounts restructuring for clarity and accuracy

You'll go from "I have no idea where we stand" to clean, current financials.

About Trident Ledger

Founded on a simple idea: growing businesses deserve financial leadership they can actually afford.

Trident Ledger was built by Ryan Wallace, MBA — a career controller who spent over a decade inside businesses of every size, across industries, through growth spurts and downturns alike. Managing month-end closes, building forecasting models, cleaning up messy books, and standing in boardrooms presenting numbers that actually drove decisions.

The problem was always the same: growing businesses stuck in a gap. Too big for just a bookkeeper. Not big enough for a full-time controller or CFO. And nobody in between telling them what their numbers actually mean.

That's why Trident Ledger exists. We embed in your business, learn how it works, and deliver the financial leadership you need to make confident decisions. No jargon. No fluff. Just clarity.

FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most.

What's the difference between a fractional controller and a bookkeeper?

A bookkeeper records transactions and keeps your books up to date. A controller interprets those numbers, manages the close process, builds forecasts, and provides the financial leadership to drive decisions. Think of it this way: a bookkeeper tells you what happened. A controller tells you what it means and what to do next.

How much does this cost?

Every engagement is scoped to fit your business. Most clients invest between $3,000 and $8,000 per month depending on complexity, volume, and the level of strategic support they need. We'll give you a clear, fixed quote after the discovery call — no hidden fees, no hourly surprises.

How many hours per month do I need?

It depends on your business. Some clients need 15–20 hours a month for close and reporting. Others need 30–40+ hours for deeper financial planning and team oversight. We'll recommend the right level during the discovery call — and we can always adjust as your needs change.

Will you work with my existing accounting team?

Absolutely. That's one of the things we do best. We'll manage and mentor your bookkeepers, set up quality controls, and fill the gaps in your current team — not replace people who are doing good work.

What accounting software do you support?

We work with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, NetSuite, Xero, and Sage. If you're on a different platform, let's talk — our team has worked across most major systems and can adapt quickly.

How quickly can we get started?

Most engagements are up and running within 1–2 weeks of signing the agreement. If your books are in rough shape, we may start with a cleanup phase before moving into ongoing services. Either way, you'll see progress fast.

Do we replace your CPA?

No — and we'll make their life a lot easier. Trident Ledger is not a CPA firm, but we work closely with your tax preparer to make sure they have clean, organized financials at year-end. Many of our clients tell us their CPA fees went down after working with us because the books are in much better shape.

What if my books are a mess?

That's not a dealbreaker — it's actually one of the most common starting points. We'll assess the damage, put together a cleanup plan, and get your books in shape before transitioning to ongoing monthly services. It's what we do.
